How to Make a Playlist
How To Make a Playlist
by Jonathan Hernandez
There are a couple of rules that one should follow when trying to make a playlist for a workout session.
Rule #1: What type of training session?
Are you doing a long and steady cardio session? Maybe a little Bryan Adams “Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman”. Heavy Lifting? Maybe a little Rage Against The Machine “Guerilla Radio”. Sprints? Maybe a little Macklemore & Ryan Lewis “Can’t Hold Us”.
Rule #2: What workout gear are you wearing?
Lululemon? Maybe a little Robin Thicke “Give It 2 U”. Yoga Pants? Maybe a little Beyonce “Bills, Bills, Bills”. Mesh Shorts? Maybe a little AC/DC “Thunderstruck”. White glove? Anything Michael Jackson from 1972-1987. Are you wearing a plain white T? Maybe a little Dem Franchize Boyz “White Tee”.
Rule #3: Where did you grow up?
West Metairie? Color Me Badd “All 4 Love”. Old Metairie? Eddie Money “Take Me Home Tonight” New Orleans East? Anything from No Limit Soldier Records (That’s where I grew up…Kenilworth Chiefs!!!)
No matter what mood or workout or age or gender, make sure you are switching up your playlist every week or so. Spending 5-10 minutes a week on adding some new songs will make sure you stay motivated and get those last couple of repetitions or finish that treadmill workout without dropping off the intensity.
Here is Jonathan’s Playlist for the Week: (A little something for everyone)
Pearl Jam – Just Breathe, Kenny Chesney – American Kids, Meghan Trainor – All About That Bass, The Heavy – How Do You Like Me Now, Sisqo – Thong Song, Counting Crows – Mr. Jones, Galatic ft Mystikal – Move Fast, Kanye West – The New Workout Plan, Ed Sheeran – Sing, Bon Jovi – Keep The Faith, Joe Esposito – You’re The Best (Karate Kid song), Beastie Boys – Intergalactic, Fuel – Shimmer , Billy Joel – We Didn’t Start The Fire
