Back to School Workouts:
You most likely have the most consistency in your life during the school year. Your kids are back in school and have set schedules. Although it may be more consistent, it can also can be very busy. Here are some tips to help you maintain a healthy lifestyle during the school year.
- Schedule your workouts
When you write down something, especially on some sort of planner, you are more likely to do something! Including working out on your daily schedule allows you to make sure that you have time during the day to get a workout in. It is also a great way to not allow you to forget a workout, or make the excuse “I don’t have time today”. This way you are more accountable.
- Make Meal plans
Preparing meal plans is a great way to make sure you can maintain a healthy diet for you and your family. It also is great for when you don’t have a lot of time to plan and prep meals during the week. When you prepare meals ahead of time, you can make sure that your meals include lots of colors.
- Manage your stress
When you’re stressed out, your muscles tense up. If you are constantly stressed, your muscles will constantly be tense leading to back pain, headaches, and body aches. By managing stress, you can lower the risk of having a heart attack, and other health problems. Some ways to manage stress is doing activities that you enjoy. These can be hiking, yoga, listening to music, or any type of workout.
- Sleep when possible
Sleep has a great impact on your life. Studies show that when you are lacking sleep, stress builds up and you increase the risk of depression. Researchers have also found that you tend to be hungrier when you get less sleep. This is because the brain sectors that control metabolism and sleep are the same.
- Vary your workouts
Try not to do the same workout every time. It is good to change it up a little every once in a while. When you do the same workout all the time, you are only focusing on the same muscles. When you change up your workout routine, you give some muscles the chance to take a break and workout ones that don’t typically get a lot of attention. By doing this you are able to build up new muscles, and prevent other from overuse injuries. This can also help you look forward to working out and not staying in the same boring routine.
