Everyday Wellness Tips: A New Year, A New You?
I hope y’all were able to follow my suggestions to maintain your health and wellness goals over the course of December. Now let’s discuss how to maximize your New Year’s Resolutions.
Identify your goal – I would encourage you to identify a goal absent of something weight or shape related. Instead, focus on increasing the number of days you go to the gym each week, incorporating more fruits and vegetables into your diet, or drinking more water.
Have friends and/or family hold you accountable – Share your goals with your friends and family so that they can support and encourage you along the way. Also, use social media with #myparks to communicate and inspire each other.
Focus on progress and not perfection – Most of resolutions fail because of lack of consistency – think how few people you will see in the gym in March compared to January. Nobody is perfect (not even the trainers), so any step toward your goal is a success.
Celebrate your successes –Find a way to celebrate your success each month and have a big way to celebrate at the end of the year. Make the rewards worth your time and energy and give yourself something to look forward to. That being said, I would encourage you to not use food as a reward. You don’t want to set yourself up for your brain to associate success with food.
Good luck and Happy New Year!
